Since 1970, we have expanded simultaneously on several fronts – mail order, retail outlets, distributorships, warehousing and logistics and the development of ‘Venus’, an in-house brand of domestic appliances. More importantly, the expansion moved the frontiers of operations into a wider global arena, covering Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
An important factor that has contributed to its success is Jacky’s ability to adapt itself to the needs of the times. For instance, in the last 40 years, Jacky’s manifested its acumen and will to take critical decisions at crucial junctures – the progression from wholesale to retail; the expansions from single to multiple retail units; the evolution of Venus, the company’s own brand; acquisition of distributor rights for important international brands; entry at the right time into potential markets of the Gulf, CIS countries and Africa.
