The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company (ADWEC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA).
The key role of ADWEC is to act as a guarantor of the security of supply of electricity and water to consumers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This role is fulfilled through careful short–term and long–term balancing of supply and demand (Demand Forecast and Generation Expansion Planning), through long–term Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPAs) with the power / water production companies, through the Bulk Supply Tariff (BST) sales agreements with the Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA) with Fuel Supplies.
ADWEC is certified according to the following standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

ADWEC was established on 1/1/1999. ADWEC is the single Buyer and Seller of electricity and water within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
ADWEC procurers water and electricity from the Power and Water Producers on the basis of long term Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPA’s) and sells it through Bulk Supply Tariffs (BST) sales agreement with the Distribution Companies (DISCO’s). It is also reponsible for preparing the long-term Demand Forecasts for electricity and water, purchasing of gas fuel, contracting for new capacity and financial settlements.

ADWEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority ADWEA and ADWEC is the “Single Buyer and Seller” of Water and Electricity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
ADWEC has to balance demand and supply through Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPAs) with the generation companies and through sales contracts on the basis of a Bulk Supply Tariff (BST) with the Distribution Companies.
ADWEC also purchases Gas Fuels from the Fuel Suppliers for the Producers as well as handle financial settlements with all the stakeholders.
